Feed My Starving Children

Yesterday my mom and I joined the staff from my daycare and we went to package food at Feed My Starving Children. Their vision: With God’s help Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) will strive to eliminate starvation in children throughout the world by helping to instill compassion in people to hear and respond to the cries of those in need. And that is what we did. From 9:30-10:30, we packaged 21,600 meals to send to the children in Haiti! That means we can feed 51 children for 1 whole year! Praise! The MannaPackRice formula consists of dehydrated chicken and dehydrated vegetables, soy nuggets, and the rice staple. When the food is ready to be prepared, it is reconstituted with water. Each bag packed feeds 6 children- at one cup for a serving. Thirty six bags go into one box, and up to 100 or more boxes are then shipped to 70 countries around the world. There are more than 500,000 volunteers working throughout the (to be) seven packing sites in the US. It was SO ENCOURAGING to see so many people- about 50 were in our session- come together and put their differences aside for 2 hours. For 2 hours, we could all work towards the common goal of eliminating the world's hungry children.
